Aligned with the need to do things differently to protect our planet the HIQS Sustainably Compliant Facilities Certification already includes the recycling element. Over and above this, the Sustainability division of HIQS offers more comprehensive assistance regarding sustainability encompassing managing, measuring, monitoring and reporting compliance for corporates.

Many of the products used in the cleaning and disinfection industries, including personal protective equipment and cleaning products are made from non-recyclable material or materials for which re-use and recycle options have not yet been found. HIQS Sustainability focuses on providing corporates and businesses with consulting services to manage, measure and report their waste more effectively and preventing it, as far as possible, from ending on landfill sites.

Most waste in Africa is still dumped on landfill sites and many sites are nearing capacity. No new licenses are currently being issued for additional landfill sites. In addition to this we have all seen the masks, disposable gloves, hairnets and other non-biodegradable items ending up in our environment.

HIQS continuously searches for more innovative products and solutions. Waste management is a problem for many businesses as it requires dedicated attention to be more effective and manage it properly. Often times a manager or department is lobbed with the responsibility of dealing with the site’s waste and requires an innovative partner who really understands waste to take the headache away and provide the solutions.

Our consultants will review your current waste disposal methodology as well as the various waste streams on site and are able to provide options and solutions to achieve up to 95% diversion from landfill.

Detailed monthly management reports backed by a full paper trail, including safe disposal certificates provide the business with a comprehensive management pack. This management information may be used for other internal and external reporting purposes as well as a tool for analysing and continually improving.
